Examination tips for Accounts Board Exam

1. READING THE QUESTION PAPER
Utilise the 15 minutes reading time judiciously. Mark out the questions to be done in case of an internal choice, read all the questions carefully and think calmly the answers of all the 1 markers so that when you start writing the exam, it acts as a time saver. Also, in the reading time only allot time to each question so that you can complete your paper well in time.
2. MANNER OF ATTEMPTING ANSWERS
* Although you can answer the questions in any sequence, still the recommended method is either to start answering from 1st question to the last question or the vice versa.
* All parts of a particular question must be attempted together. Highlight the Answer number you are attempting CLEARLY and PROPERLY.

3. WORKING NOTES
All working notes forming a part of your answer should be presented neatly and in a proper format. Working Notes are very important in an Accountancy Exam. Step wise marking is done so please do not miss on any working note.
4. FORMATS
The tables and other accounts should be properly made with a pencil and a scale. Each Account should have a proper heading. Do not forget to write Debit./Credit/Amount etc. These small things matter.
5. HANDWRITING
Students with good handwriting do tend to score more. Make sure than the paper checker can clearly make out what you have written. For eg: A ‘6’ should not look like a ‘0’ as this can change the value and then eventually change your answer and lead to you loosing out on marks for such silly reasons.
6. PRESENTATION
Avoid cutting/over writing. Think twice before finally writing so that there is no need to cut or over write.  Also, give a proper conclusion line wherever required and leave 2-3 lines after every answer.
7. ROUGH WORK
Use a separate sheet for rough work. Do not do any rough work on the question paper or on your main answer sheet. Also, try to do all rough work with a pencil.

The Accountancy paper is generally a lengthy paper. So students should not waste their time on a question which they are unable to solve.

For eg: If the Balance Sheet is not tallying, do not waste your time on it. Leave it for the time being and come back on it after completing the entire paper.

All the Best!
